Explore With Me – Appalachian Renaissance Faire of Tennessee

I didn’t get a post out last week and I apologize for that. I had every intention of writing a post ahead and schedule it out but I was going through a bit of a writer’s block and was very busy with so many other things that were going on. 

Last weekend we not only attended but participated in the Appalachian Renaissance Faire of Tennessee. My husband and daughter are actors for the show and I got to step in for a small role myself. My role was of course unscripted. I just needed to be in the audience for my husband to react to in the final show of the day. So I got to dress up and enjoy the faire along with my family. Since my role was at the end I had the opportunity to explore all the vendors and see what they had to offer. 

There were tons of handmade jewelry, clothing items, leather items and so many other things. I purchased a fantasy book that I can’t wait to start reading, as well as a couple of fun tee shirts from a shop called South Carolina Chic. She was fun to talk to as she was from the same county I had lived in when we had lived in South Carolina. I also splurged a bit and bought a beautiful leather journal that is refillable. 

There were quite a few food and drink vendors around. The Lemonade place was one of my favorites. You can get any flavored mixed lemonade you would want. The entertainment was good but of course I could be just a wee bit biased as part of the entertainment did include my husband and daughter. It was a lot of fun.

There was axe throwing, archery, and a cannon demonstration. The faire was filled with the Duke & Duchess, Lord’s, Ladies, Knights, Fairies, Elves and pirates. It was a fun fairy tale weekend.

If you ever get to attend a Renaissance or Medieval Faire you should. It’s pretty neat and fun to watch the different kinds of people that attend. You’ve got everything from the people dressed in plain clothes to the hardcore fans that dress up in period apparel. Some even dress as characters from a favorite period show / book / movie.
