Jane Austen

I have lately been on a Jane Austen kick. I haven’t read the books, yet I probably should. But I love the movies. When people ask me what I want for Christmas this year I know exactly what to tell them. I have loved every single one of them that I have seen thus far. I recently borrowed a couple from the library again. I put in Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly and the girls scattered. lol However, I think Princess would like them if she had the attention span to watch them. lol They are rather long for the younger ones to watch and Drama Queen is just not into romance right now.  I really enjoy how Jane Austen was able to capture the lives of the people in her book. They become more than just fictional people and feel much more real. I also watched the Jane Austen book club on Netflix and wasn’t real impressed with it. I find the Jane Austen movies much more enjoyable than listening to people discuss the books and almost make a total mess of their own lives. It really didn’t strike me as a favorite. However I loved the movie about Jane called Becoming Jane. It was fascinating to me.

I have a tendency when I read fiction to lean more towards classics or historical fiction, although I have enjoyed my share of chick lit. I prefer the other.  I did borrow Northanger Abbey from the library and this is one that I have not seen. It’s the Masterpiece theater version and looks very interesting. Still my favorites so far have been Sense and Sensibility, Emma and Pride and Prejudice.

 

What are you favorite books put to movie? Do you prefer historical novels, classics or chick lit? I’m curious, to see what you like to read and watch. Any good recommendations of movies and books are very welcome.
