Synopsis

Review:

Time for Courage follows thirteen-year-old Dirk and his family. They were members of the Dutch Resistance during WWII. Their goal is to save as many Jewish children as possible. This was during a time when the Nazis were hunting them down. It was the first book I’ve read by author Rob Currie. I discovered that this is a sequel to his book Hunger Winter. It has been added it to my TBR list. I really enjoyed this story and it was very well written for middle-school aged children. 

Because of the subject around which this book is written, you always have the concern of how the author will deal with the atrocities associated with WWII. I have to say he did an amazing job. He addressed them without going into too much detail of what they had to deal with. The subject matter is there and shouldn’t be shied away from. You also have to address it appropriately with children. This depends on their age and maturity. I think he dealt with this in a way all parents will be happy about. 

In conclusion, I really like this book. Parents should share it with their children. They can also read it with them. I enjoyed this book, even as an adult. The author grabs your attention quickly and knows how to keep you reading. He has a great grasp of the subject. I’m looking forward to reading more from Rob.
